All Nations is
the worldwide scope of God’s promise
and of the church’s mission.
God told Abraham that in him all the families of the earth would be blessed.
Jesus commanded His disciples to make disciples of all nations,
and He said the gospel of the kingdom will be
proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations.
The Bible ends with a great multitude
from every nation, tribe, people, and language
standing before the throne and before the Lamb.
From the beginning of the covenant with Abraham, the Lord’s purpose was larger than one family and one land. All the families of the earth would be blessed in him. The psalms call the nations to praise the Lord. The prophets saw the nations streaming to the mountain of the Lord and the Servant becoming a light for the nations. After the resurrection Jesus declared that all authority in heaven and on earth had been given to Him, and on that basis He sent His people to make disciples of all nations. Pentecost began the gathering as every nation under heaven heard the mighty works of God in their own tongues. The apostles carried the gospel to the Gentiles. Paul called this the mystery now revealed: that the Gentiles are fellow heirs. The mission is not finished until the testimony has reached the nations and the redeemed from every people stand before the Lamb. “All nations” is therefore the measure of the promise, the field of the Great Commission, and the final congregation of heaven.

- Genesis 12:3 – “I will bless those who bless you, and him who dishonors you I will curse, and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”

In you all the families of the earth shall be blessed. That promise was never small. Jesus sent His church to all nations because all authority is His. The gospel of the kingdom will be preached throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come. Do not shrink the mission to one people or one place. Proclaim repentance and forgiveness of sins in His name to all nations. The Lamb has already ransomed a people from every tribe and language and people and nation. The multitude will stand before the throne. Until that day the church goes, baptizes, teaches, and bears witness—because the King of the nations has spoken, and He is with us to the end of the age.
